If you work with plants in California, you must have this book. While you'll still need the Sunset Western Garden book, this is the perfect companion, surpassing that book in many ways. The water use designations are extremely helpful as are the plant pairing guides. Unlike Sunset, this is largely from Mr. Perry's personal extensive experience so it reflects real world knowledge. On top of that, it is a beautuful publication. His previous books were comprehensive for their time, but the photos sometimes left something to be desired. This makes up for that in spades shovels?
